    • Ganz Ohr praxisnah! - Matthias Becker

      Friday, July 18th 2025 | 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

      JJF-Konservatorium

Very practical! Exciting and varied. The ear is the most important instrument for us singers. How do I playfully and singingly arrive at sound ideas? How do we make (jazz) chords sound like goose bumps (blending)? This is how I learn a little music theory while singing. Countless ideas for practicing alone or together in a vocal ensemble. A purely practical seminar. Sing, listen! Sing, listen! Sing, listen!

Matthias Becker is the founder and manager of VoKAL ToTAL, the famous German vocal jazz quartet. He has a diploma in choir conducting and a musicology PhD in „choir music in jazz“. He is giving national and international classes in music for choirmasters, choirs and vocal ensembles, and has a publishing company for international Choir music.

    • Der alpenländische Naturjodler - Olivia Koland

      Saturday, July 19th 2025 | 11:45 am - 1:15 pm

      JJF-Konservatorium

"Yodeling awakens a longing to pause, to feel a gentle strength within us, and to show — even call out — our bubbling joy to the world!" The yodel is one of the most remarkable forms of Alpine folk music. Its musical expression ranges from the single-voiced Juchzer — a loud call from mountaintop to valley — to delicate, multi-part yodels. Once used as a means of communication, this archaic vocal expression is now much more than a skillful shift between vocal registers — it has become a true expression of pure joy! The yodel is both primal and powerful, resembling an ancient, elemental sound. It is sung on syllables, with the voice flipping from chest to head register.

Olivia Koland has been yodeling for 15 years and has been sharing her knowledge in courses for the past ten years. "Actually, I work in the field of environmental protection and sustainability — and teach people how to yodel on the side," she says. "But in truth, my goal is to bring yodeling into the world as something joyful and to give people their voices back." Because: "Those who can yodel also have something to say in life."

This class will take a look at our own individual stage frights and some personal perspectives on how to overcome our fears and let the music be our guide to success and comfort. Activities will entail conversation, personal revelation, and actual demonstration……..We will engage in breathing exercises, a meditation, and a group singing exercise that creates a sense of security. Participants will physicalize the bonds that connect us, and actually enjoy the freedom of movement. There will also be a list of Creative Vitamins to build together. This workshop was quite successful in its last incarnation—–It truly tailors itself to the people who partake…….an emotional experience as we release tensions and discover our own “vulnerable strength”. What a relief to finally be back on the stage while we navigate this challenging pandemic. If we can manage to overcome Corona, we can certainly take on that which scares us in the performance arena. We will work in a safe environment, and inspire a supportive and positive, artistic community.
